What We Stopped Noticing
Some sins fade from view not because they end, but because the world around us stops counting them as sin.
Scripture asks us to live in the world without being shaped by it. Jesus prayed for his followers, "My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one." Paul put the same call plainly: "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind."
The hard part is seeing clearly. The pattern of our surroundings is not loud. It is ordinary. It arrives as the way things are simply done, and so it slips past examination. A practice the church once weighed with care can become, over generations, a thing no one thinks to question. The habit survives; the question dies.
This is worth our honesty. Where have we let the assumptions around us stand in for the teaching of Scripture? The point is not alarm but attention.
Reflect today: name one ordinary habit you have never once held up to the light of God's will. Ask what renewing your mind would mean there. Then listen, rather than defend.
