A Prayer Against Anxiety
A prayer for anxious people, following the pattern Paul gives in Philippians 4.
Philippians 4:6-7NIV
God of peace, you have told us not to be anxious about anything, and we confess that we are anxious about many things. We name them before you now, the money and the health and the children and the future and the things we are ashamed to be worried about.
You have told us what to do instead, so we do it. We pray. We ask. We give thanks, for the gifts of this week and for the ones we have taken for granted. We present our requests to you plainly, as children who know their Father listens.
Now guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Set your peace at the gate, the peace that goes beyond what we can understand, and let no worry pass it without meeting you. Teach us the secret Paul learned, to be content in plenty and in want, through him who gives us strength. Amen.
