A Prayer for the Mind of Christ
A Sunday prayer shaped by the hymn of Philippians 2.
Philippians 2:5-8NIV
Lord Jesus Christ, you were in very nature God, and you did not hold on to it. You made yourself nothing. You took the nature of a servant. You humbled yourself and became obedient to death, even death on a cross. We bow before you today, and we want to bow gladly.
Give us your mind. We confess that we are quick to grasp and slow to give, that we value ourselves above others without even noticing, and that our churches are divided by things we would be ashamed to name aloud. Make us like-minded, having the same love, one in spirit and purpose.
Father, you exalted your Son and gave him the name above every name. We join our voices early with the confession that every tongue will one day make. Jesus Christ is Lord, to your glory. Let that confession shape how we treat one another when we leave this place. Amen.
