A Prayer for the Tired
For the end of a long day, when strength is low and the work is not finished.
God, you know how this day has gone. You know what was done and what was left undone. You know the weight we carried before we could name it.
We come to you tired. Not defeated, but tired. Steady us. Remind us that the work does not rest on us alone, and that we are allowed to stop.
Give rest to those who cannot sleep tonight for worry. Give patience to those caring for someone who will not get better. Give courage to those who must begin again tomorrow after failing today.
We do not ask for an easier road. We ask to walk the one we have with a quiet heart. Keep us honest, keep us kind, and keep us close to you.
Where we have been proud, make us humble. Where we have been afraid, make us brave. And when we have nothing left, let that be enough, because you are not finished with us yet.
