A Prayer for the Tired
For anyone who comes to the end of the day with more weight than words.
Father, I come to you tired. Not always in body, though sometimes that too. Tired in the quiet places I do not show anyone.
You know the whole of it. You knew it before I sat down. I do not need to explain myself to you, and that alone is a kind of rest.
Thank you for the day I was given. For the small mercies I noticed, and the ones I missed. For work done, and work left unfinished that will keep until morning.
Where I was hard today, soften me. Where I was afraid, steady me. Where I withheld kindness, teach me to give it freely tomorrow.
I lay down what I cannot carry. I trust you with the people I love and the things I cannot fix.
Give me sleep, and a quiet heart, and the grace to begin again. Amen.
