A Prayer for the Tired
For anyone who comes to the end of the day with more questions than strength.
God of the morning and the long evening, we come to you as we are. Some of us are rested. Many of us are tired. You know the difference, and you welcome both.
We bring you the work we finished and the work we could not. We bring the people we love and the ones we find hard to love. We bring our worry, which is heavy, and our hope, which is small but real.
Teach us to set things down. In the Psalms you say, "Be still, and know that I am God." Help us hear that not as a command we have failed, but as an invitation we can still accept.
Keep us honest. Keep us kind. Keep us near to one another and near to you. And when sleep comes, let it come as a gift and not an escape.
We ask this in trust, together. Amen.
