A Prayer for the Tired
For anyone who comes to the end of the day with little left to give.
God of the morning and the evening, we come to you as we are, not as we wish we were. Some of us are weary. Some of us have carried more today than anyone saw. You know the weight of it, and you do not ask us to explain.
Teach us to rest without guilt. Quiet the voices that tell us our worth is measured by what we finished. Remind us that we are held before we are useful.
Scripture says, "Be still, and know that I am God." Help us to be still now. Loosen our grip on tomorrow. Let sleep come as a gift, not a reward.
Watch over those we love while we cannot. Watch over the ones we have forgotten to name. And when we wake, meet us again with mercy that is new. Amen.
