A Prayer for the Tired
For anyone who has run out of words but still wants to pray.
God of the long day, we come to you with what is left of us. Not our best hours, but the ones that remain. You know the weight we carried and the things we could not finish. We set them down here, at the end, where you can see them.
Steady the ones who are worn thin. Give rest that is real rest, and not just the absence of noise. Where we are anxious, quiet us. Where we are bitter, soften us. Where we have been unkind, teach us to make it right tomorrow.
We do not ask for an easy road. We ask for company on the one we have, and for strength enough for the next small step.
Keep our households through the night. Keep those who work while others sleep. And when morning comes, let us meet it without dread, trusting that the same mercy that held us today will be there to meet us again.
Amen.
