A Prayer for the Tired
For anyone who comes to the end of the day with more owed than done, a prayer to set the weight down.
God of the long day, you know how far we walked and how little we finished. We bring you the list we did not clear, the words we wished we had chosen better, the people we meant to call. Take them from our hands. They were never carried alone.
Where we were harsh, soften us. Where we were afraid, steady us. Where we judged another quickly, slow us down, and give us the patience you have shown us all our lives.
We do not ask for an easier road tomorrow. We ask to walk it with you, and with each other. Keep our hearts open to the neighbour whose way of faith is not our own, for you made them too, and you love them as you love us.
Grant us rest tonight that is real rest. And when morning comes, let us begin again, unhurried, unashamed, and glad to be yours. Amen.
