A Prayer From the Far Shore
Shaped by the song of Moses and the waters of Marah in Exodus 15.
Exodus 15:1-27NIV
LORD, you are our strength and our song, and you have become our salvation. We stand on the far shore of a deliverance we did not accomplish, and we join the song of Moses and of the Lamb: who among the gods is like you, majestic in holiness, working wonders?
You are our God and the God of those who went before us. We thank you for every generation that found you faithful and passed the song down to us.
We also confess that we are three days from the sea and already thirsty. The water in front of us is bitter and we have begun to grumble. Show us the wood. Heal what we cannot drink. Teach us your name, the LORD who heals, and give us the patience to walk one more day to Elim.
Lead us in your unfailing love to the place you have prepared, and reign over us for ever. Amen.
